Nothing is more important to us at Thornton Lodge than that our guests have the best stay possible. If you are seeking a luxury b&b in Wensleydale or peaceful guesthouse in the Yorkshire Dales we believe Thornton Lodge could be your perfect choice.
During our summer b&b season we find that people come to us for all sorts of different reasons - some want to walk, others to tour the countryside and amazing Dales towns and villages. Some people are on a leisurely holiday and others are snatching a quick break away from home.
With this in mind Vanessa likes to spend a little time with her guests ensuring that those who don't know the area have some ideas for their day. It gives her great satisfaction when she knows that guests are heading out for the day doing something that will bring pleasure, be that a trip into Hawes or Leyburn, a wander around the Dales or a walk in Wensleydale or Swaledale. She is also available to help advise guests on places to eat nearby.
As an additional service for those guests not able to journey out for dinner, she is able to offer simple home cooked meals by arrangement. Numbers for dinner vary greatly from week to week - some weeks no one want dinner at all and other weeks it can vary from 2 - 12 guests on a daily basis therefore it is important that guests wishing to eat at the house have a degree of flexibility over what is served each day - sometimes because of work load, part of the set menu envisaged at breakfast time has to change to something else, especially if I planned to pop to the shops to get an ingredient and end up not being able to do so.
We have a great many maps and books of the area and are always happy to offer advice when needed.
During the autumn and winter Vanessa is happy to cater for guests on an exclusive hire basis and operates a sliding scale of charges depending upon the number of rooms required. More information is provided on our special events page.
Please have a look at our flickr and trip advisor pages for lots of pictures and reviews of the house - you can access these by clicking on the small logos at the foot of the page.
