Visitors fall in love with Thornton Lodge, as we did when we first viewed it.

The picturesque hamlet of Thornton Rust lies along a lane off the main A684 (Leyburn to Hawes) road. We can be approached from the Leyburn direction, turning off at Aysgarth, or from the Hawes direction, turning up the steep bank at Whorton. We are 2 miles from the Aysgarth approach and 1mile from the Whorton approach.

Visitors marvel at the views—we sit beneath Addlebrough, which can be viewed on the Aysgarth approach, whilst Pen Hill dominates the view in the opposite direction.

The nearby fields are grazed by cows and sheep, or left as meadow. An abundance of wildlife inhabit the hedgerows along the lane and the trees in our grounds. There is nothing nicer  than to sit in tranquillity, soaking up the atmosphere, and listening to the birds. If you are lucky, you may even witness the deer which venture into our grounds—mostly very early in the mornings, but the have been spotted there at 4pm during May!
