Breakfast—that all important start to the day, served in the elegant surroundings of our beautiful oak panelled dining room. We serve fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts, cereals and our hearty cooked Yorkshire breakfast. Fish dishes can also be provided and should be asked for the night before they are required. Breakfast is normally served between 8.30am and 9.15am as this suites most people but I am happy to provide it earlier or later by arrangement.

Packed lunches are available upon request– made up to individual requirements, guests are asked to order these the day before they are required so that ingredients can be bought.

Evening meals are available by prior arrangement. My speciality is Wensleydale beef, roasted, with Yorkshire puddings and seasonal vegetables. We also serve the most delicious Wensleydale lamb roasts. As a lighter alternative, we offer marvellous Yorkshire ham, home cooked by our local butcher, and served with new potatoes and salad. Other dishes can be prepared upon request. Dinner is not available on Sunday or Wednesday, however I am happy to prepare sandwiches on these nights if required. Dinner is usually served at 6.30pm. I set each table with  a jug of Wensleydale tap water, which tastes marvellous. As we are not licensed, guests are encouraged to bring their own wine to enjoy with their meal.

We are also more than happy to book guests into any of the many fantastic places available to eat at, in the surrounding villages. Our top recommendation is the George and Dragon in Aysgarth, telephone 01969 663358 to reserve a table.

For groups enjoying exclusive use of Thornton Lodge, we are able to offer a range of dining options to suite individual requirements, making the house the perfect venue for small, intimate gatherings. We have hosted for events ranging from weddings and anniversaries to birthday celebrations and corporate entertaining or simply a group of friends who wanted a lovely setting to get together.
