Accessible room

£110 for the room per night for 2 people bed and breakfast

This large ground floor room is available only for guests who have mobility issues. Unobtrusive grab rails in the large ensuite shower room are there to assist when required and the bed can be set up as either a double or a twin.

The table is a lovely place to sit with a pot of tea observing the birdlife in the garden, or why not watch tv from the comfortable wing back chesterfield armchairs?

I have created a gallery of some 18 or so pictures which can be accessed by clicking the next tab down from this on the bar to the left of the page.

The room has 14 ft high ceilings, and paneling around the lower walls as it was once part of the enormous billiard room.  When the house was a nursing home this room was two bedrooms and the house hairdressers and it was very much a labour of love restoring the lovely cornicework and paneling to make the room feel whole again. The wallpaper is a very pretty Sanderson print called English Roses.

Since this room is only for people with mobility difficulties, any bookings made are on the basis of correct and fair need of the room, therefore please be aware any online bookings made are subject to verification by me. It is not my intention to offend anyone by asking why they need the room but if I dont ask, sometimes people have either booked the room accidentally or without thought for other peoples needs. By my asking, it gives me a chance to switch the booking to a  more suitable room if a mistake has been made, either accidentally or otherwise.

Accessibility

The room is suitable for guests with mobility difficulties and accompanied wheelchair users. The ensuite requires guests to be able to transfer from any wheelchair onto a shower stool in order to use the shower and is not a wet room. The doors are not automatic and therefore are not suitable for lone wheelchair travellers or couples who are both wheelchair users. There are steps to the front door with alternative ramp access into the sun lounge. Once inside the house the ground floor is level and all doorways to public rooms are wide enough for wheelchairs.

We have fitted red flashing strobe alarms to all rooms for the benefit of guests with hearing difficulties in the event of a fire.

We have 3 ground floor rooms - a single, the accessible and our 'largest' room.
