Text Box: Thornton Lodge

Thornton Lodge is a luxurious country house set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This beautiful sandstone property was built in 1909 as the summer home of a wealthy cotton baron and today provides a genteel retreat amid fine period features and antiques.

Home to the Kilvington family since 2004, we have undertaken  a major restoration project and have striven to return the property to the elegance of the Edwardian era.

Bespoke carpeting was sourced for the lounge, conservatory and magnificent staircase, whilst the oak flooring in the entrance hallway was restored to its original splendour to complement the setting.

Externally, Thornton Lodge is set within three acres of formal grounds, with magnificent mature trees flanking the boundaries and lawned gardens stretching into views of the surrounding hills. A private gate gives access onto our land surrounding the property, where a gentle climb up the hillside is rewarded by one of the best views imaginable.

The magnificent oak panelled staircase in the entrance hall has been complemented by a beautiful stair runner and brass rods, whilst the oak flooring is once again laid bare, as intended in 1909.
